DESERT WINDS SOCCER LEAGUE

GENERAL INFORMATION

1. Attire for play- Uniforms must be complete at games: Jersey, shorts, socks, shin guards and cleats.  Shin guards must always be inside the socks.  All coaches must wear the coach shirt provided or a shirt that matches their team’s colors.

1. If it is very cold outside, sweatshirts and/or sweatpants may be worn under uniforms, but they should match the uniform as close as possible.

 

1. No jewelry of any kind is permitted during games.  This is not a good time to get your child’s ears pierced.  Tape wrapped over earrings is NOT allowed, and our referees will ask that the earrings be removed or the child does not play.

1. No hair clips, barrettes or bobbie pins are permitted.  If hair has to be tied back, use cloth scrunchies or elastic bands.

1. Baseball cleats are not permitted.

1. No smoking at games.  

1. No dogs, horses, etc. are allowed at field locations.

1. The first game of the day, home team is responsible for corner flags and trash cans at the entrance of the field.  The last game of the day, the home team is responsible for taking down flags and cleaning up.  If trash cans are overflowing, PLEASE do not leave them.  Please empty them.

1. Home team is responsible for providing properly inflated game ball.

1. No one is allowed to stand behind goal area during games.

1. Spectators are to remain at least three feet back from the sideline, out of      the coaches’ and referees’ ways.

1. If a child is injured during the game, please wait until you are directed to go on the field.

Take your trash with you after practices and games, including empty, half -empty or full water bottles, orange peels, tiny straw wrappers, etc.

ATTENTION PARENTS:

Here are some important points everyone should be aware of before registering with our league.  Please read them carefully and initial on the line to acknowledge that you understand each point.  Thank you.

_______  Desert Winds Soccer League (DWSL) wishes to notify you of the basic terms and limits of the medical insurance coverage furnished through CalSouth.  There is no other medical insurance coverage available through our league or CalSouth.  A summary of the terms and limits is available.  Please ask for one.  The Board of DWSL recommends that you have your own primary medical insurance to cover your child in case of injury during the season and that you make sure that coverage will be adequate for your needs.

_______  Requests for a specific coach, team or location of team cannot be guaranteed.

_______  CalSouth will not allow a child to be registered to more than one team in any one season.  If your child is rejected for being on more than one team in a season and it is after our DWSL draft, you will not get a refund.

_______  There will be no refunds of registration fees after the DWSL draft, scheduled for May 24, 2011.

_______   The number of teams in a division will depend on the number of coaches 

available.  If your child is placed on a team with no coach assigned to it, parents of team members will be asked to coach. 

_______  No incomplete registrations will be accepted.  Returned checks will be subjected to a $25.00 reprocessing fee.

________ The league WILL NOT tolerate profanity by any coach, player or parent.  Use of profanity or display of unsportsmanlike behavior anywhere near or on the soccer fields can result in a game forfeit by your team and/or removal from the DWSL Fields.  This includes coaches, referees and parents.

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR COACHES, PLAYERS AND PARENTS

Desert Winds Soccer League is a recreational league.  Play for the fun of it, and follow the rules.

Remember that all coaches and officials are volunteering their time for the children of the community.  Give them due respect.  Offer to help out where you can.

Consider the health and safety of all players.

Cooperate with coaches, other players and referees.  Treat them as you would like to be treated.

Support and encourage all players, regardless of their skill level.

Do not argue or complain about the referees’ decisions. We hire outside, professional referees.   They are VERY AWARE of ALL of the rules of the game.  If there is a discrepancy over a call, the coach will handle it in an appropriate manner.  If anyone hassles the referees or coaches, they will be asked to leave the field.  This can result in a game forfeit by your team.

The league WILL NOT tolerate profanity by any coach, player or parent.  Use of profanity anywhere near the soccer fields can result in a game forfeit by your team.

Ignore mistakes.  Everyone makes them.  The league will not tolerate ridiculing or demeaning behavior toward players, coaches or referees who make mistakes on the soccer field.

Everyone should be working toward the goal of skill improvement and good sportsmanship.  Encourage everyone to play by the rules.

Set a good example.  Applaud good plays by both teams on the field.

The head coach, assistant coach and team mom are responsible for reminding the players and parents of proper conduct.
